Gaelic NS Month

The Power of our Songs

May is Gaelic Nova Scotia Month.  In the Gaelic calendar, May month is the beginning of the summer season.

As Gaels are a Nova Scotia people with a richness of cultural expression: poetry, song, music, dance, stories, foodways, lineages, spirituality and customs, many Nova Scotians have connections to Gaelic heritage.

To honour this past year’s theme, The Power of our Songs, Gaels were invited to take photos or videos of any gatherings small or big that they had among friends or with an organization in their community where Gaelic community members gather and Gaelic song is shared.

Stories were shared on Twitter: #brighnabardachd #GaelicNS #GaelicMonth #Gaidhlig #Gaelic or through Facebook.
